Welcome!
Bulletin for the 1st Sunday of February 2010
__________________________________________
We have yet to see just how much snow we will get by Sunday.
Hopefully, the roads will be very safe to drive on throughout the entire weekend.
It is winter here in the beautiful Ohio valley. We must often pause to
enjoy it's beauty whether we have more important things in mind or not.
Above all, if you must drive, drive with care and safety.

WELCOME!
We're glad to have you here! Please do us a favor. Take one of those yellow attendance cards out of the holder that's attached to the pew. Fill it out and drop it in the offering plate. We like to be able to place names with faces! But don't worry we won't single you out or make you stand or anything like that. Thanks for filling out the information!
We're finishing up a series of sermons on "Confronting Our Core Beliefs." Core beliefs are those thoughts we hold as true because of our experiences in life. We might not even know we believe them but they affect everything we say and do and our relationship with God and others. In order to grow and mature in Christ and experience the best in our relationship with Him and others, we must confront these beliefs with the truth of God's word! Last week we looked at the belief "I have to do everything perfectly or I am worthless." This belief often develops from personal rejection or having been loved conditionally based on our performance. It can make us think we have to be perfect in order to be accepted.
We can easily transfer this thinking to our relationship with God and try and earn our salvation through works or legalistic rules instead of realizing we're saved by grace through Christ's sacrifice on the cross for our sins. He alone was perfect. We will never be this side of Heaven. This is not permission to sin. It's the realization we fall short of perfection and we need to readily acknowledge our sins and shortcomings, bring them before God and seek His forgiveness, and ask His help through the Holy Spirit to overcome them in His power and strength. We don't have to hide, cover up or pretend. God already knows our sins and shortcomings. We can readily admit them to Him and each other. We can drop the masks. Accept His grace and extend that same grace to others. Then and only then can we begin to understand the depth of His love for us!

Come Join The Ladies Class- 9:30 A.M. Sunday Morning
We're looking at the past through the rearview mirror. We will be reminded that God makes all things new everyday. That means what happened yesterday is truly yesterday's news. God wants us to move forward today, tomorrow, and beyond to become all that we were created to be. -Rosanne Miller
Ladies Fellowship Just a reminder that we will again meet for our regular fellowship March 2, 2010! The officers will be hostesses. All ladies are invited to join us! (Circle this date on your calendar!)

Cancellation Policy We don't want to call off services for just any or every reason, but we do believe God gave us wisdom to know that there are times when temperatures and the elements combine to make it dangerous to be out, let alone drive in it! In the interest of safety and common sense, there may be times when we will find it wise to cancel our services. In this event we will run the cancellation on Channel 12's cancellations list. We will also use our automated calling system to notify members. Sunday morning worship service will not be canceled except in an extreme emergency. Automated Calling System: if you are a regular visitor and would like to be notified of cancellations or event reminders, please call Danny Clark the elder in charge of this program. 451-1388 If you're a member who has never been called by this system, please call Danny to make sure your number is correct on his list or hasn't been accidentally overlooked.

VBS Meeting February 27
This year VBS will be earlier from June 21 - 25. Given the state of the church budget and the fact that our curriculum company has made some changes that would require us to do costume upgrades we have decided to create our own theme, lessons, activities, craft, etc. (Fred has been looking at other VBS packages and they all will be about as expensive as what we currently use and most of them are lacking in valuable Bible content.) Our theme will be "The Plan of Salvation" based on Acts 2:37 - 39. In this passage are five steps in the salvation process that we call the 5-Finger Exercise: Believe, Repent, be Baptized, Forgiveness of Sins, Gift of the Holy Spirit. Each step will be the focus of one VBS evening. We would like to keep VBS to two hours each night, 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
So, we will be having a planning meeting for VBS on Saturday, February 27 at 6:30 PM to begin the process of creating our own VBS. This meeting is for anyone who plans on volunteering for VBS. We will go into detail about the basic plan. Then we will need to divide people into teams that will create one part of the program. There will be sign-up sheets at the meeting for each creative team: Lessons, Drama, Activity, Snack, Props, etc.
This will be a very enjoyable and rewarding VBS knowing that we have created the whole thing ourselves in order to teach some very specific and important information about God and his love for us to the children who will come to VBS. We have the ability to create our VBS so that it accomplishes some very specific things aimed at a very specific group. So bring your most creative self, mark your calendars and plan to attend this meeting.
