Ambassadors for Christ

Ambassadors for Christ was established in 1970 by Charles and Florence Littell as a mission work specific to the Island of Mindanao. Mindanao is the second largest island in the Philippines, with a population of eighteen million. The main religion on Mindanao is Roman Catholic, but largest concentration of Muslims in the Philippines is also located there. Muslims comprise 5% of the total population of the Philippines. The Littell’s vision for Mindanao was for evangelization through church planting.

After working on the island for a number of years and trying several methods of church planting they developed the highly successful concept of the “In Service Training Program”. Before the In Service Training Seminar program began an average of seven churches per year were planted on Mindanao. Since the program began and average of 20 churches are being planted every year on Mindanao.

Eight In Service Training Seminars are conducted each year, four at each of the training centers. Our team of 15 trainers teach an established curriculum of 30 separate and independent seminars. Our trainers are men and women with college degrees and experience in ministry and are able to teach in the dialects of those who attend the seminars. The seminars are divided into five levels and graduations are held for those who successfully complete the six required seminars for any level. A 140 hour internship with an experienced pastor and established church is also required before graduating from the 4th level. Trainees come from the mountainous interior of Mindanao and are usually older men and women who desire to lead a congregation and have other means of support for their livelihood such as farming. Some of the trainees have a high school education but many do not.

In the middle 90’s the Littells recognized that a large segment of Mindanao-the professional people who live in the cities, was not being reached by In Service Training. Half the population of the Philippines lives in urban areas; a statistic we cannot ignore. Plans to plant churches in 20 cities were developed.

A Biographical Sketch of Reverend Augustin J. Noel As told to R. P. Y. 3/19/99

We know him simply as Augustine. He is a native of Central Hati and was born on February 6, 1946.
He was raised as a Roman Catholic in a small town called Cerca-Carvajal, Haiti.
When he was five years old (1951) his father died. He has a younger brother and sister.

He completed primary school when he was thirteen and matriculated to secondary school for six years in Hinche, the capitol of Central Haiti.

1974 marks the beginning of his Christian Ministry when he was baptized as a believer.

In 1982 he became a teacher at Fond-Pariseien a secondary school near Port-au-Prince-West with Thomas Prophete, the younger brother of Etienne Prophete (Steve) the director of Hitian Christian Missions, Inc.

Having observed young Augastin' s interest in the gospel of Jesus since 1972, Etienne Prophete decided to assist him in coming to the USA in 1984 to attend Colegio Biblico, Eagle Pass, TX to prepare for the ministry. Aside from working three jobs to pay for his schooling he had to learn Spanish as well as English.

His tenacity demonstrated his ability to overcome all barriers as he moved on to Cincinnati, OH in 1987 where he obtained an AB degree in Christian Ministries. In December 1989 he was ordained as a minister by the Elders of the Anderson Ferry Church of Christ.

Since 1990 to the present time he has worked as a full time Minister in various towns of Central Hati including: Cerca-Carvajal, Mendos, and Hinche. During this time he has managed to squeeze in various courses to implement his knowledge. He clearly implies that working as servant of the lord is a fulfilling and a full time job to satisfy the supporters of his various ministries.
